CHILDHOOD:
Born in Harrisburg, PA on the first day of January 1969.
During my childhood, my parents, 3 siblings, and I were actively involved in a local church in Hershey, PA.
I received Jesus as my Savior and Lord when I was 8 years old. I prayed with Uncle Charlie and the Children’s Bible Hour, a radio program that aired on Saturday mornings.
MISSION TRIPS:
My first mission trip was with my family from 1982 to 1985 in Kijabe, Kenya. I attended Rift Valley Academy, a missionary kids' boarding school, in Kijabe.
This is when I fell in love with the Word of God. I devoured the Bible and developed my relationship with Jesus. I saw and heard about miracles, experienced God’s hand of protection, and witnessed the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I fell in love with Jesus.
Subsequently, I went on mission trips to 8 more countries: Madagascar, Bolivia, Brazil, Guatemala, Switzerland, Netherlands, Russia, and Estonia.
EDUCATION:
A 1987 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School.

FAMILY:
A marriage made in heaven! I married Nelson Rhoads in 2017. Together we are VCF youth Pastors since 2020.
My parents, Darvin and Sandy Byler, and my son and daughter-in-law, Solomon and Maddy are here today.
The rest of my children could not be here today. My oldest son Elliott and daughter-in-law Alaina, my daughter Eunice, and my youngest son Shon.
My sister-in-law Adelaide, Nelson’s nephew Josh, and his family attend VCF.
HOW I GOT HERE & VCF FAMILY:
Through a series of crazy events, my family began attending VCF in May of 2008 during a chaotic marriage. I was clinging to Jesus and the Word of God and crying out to God to send me and my children the help we needed. God sent us to VCF and I found the answer to my prayer. VCF was the first church where I experienced the tangible love of God and the personal power of Holy Spirit. I wept through every service for the first year as God’s Word and Holy Spirit cleansed and strengthened me.
In 2013, I was told by my abusive husband that my children could not attend VCF and that I would have one month to say goodbye. I decided that I was not leaving VCF and that my children would be free to attend VCF because I was no longer participating in the cycle of abuse. I asked God for help. A few weeks later I heard the Spirit of God say, “Leave now without delay, and don’t turn back. Go raise a righteous generation”. I immediately obeyed that instruction and filed for a divorce. God has been our ever-present help in times of trouble, showing us the way to go and leading us in the pathway of life. My children have heroically walked a difficult path embracing the love of Jesus and growing in the grace of God as they fulfill their God-given destinies.
I am grateful to God and Pastors Doug and Dr. Fiona for faithfully proclaiming the Word of God, demonstrating the power of Holy Spirit, and providing the opportunity to become planted and grounded in the love of God and in the work of the ministry. I am glad to be a part of the VCF family of God.
